An exhibition by Helen Winthorpe Kendrick
7th June – 7th August 2014
Through the medium of textile and thread, colour and texture, the exhibition explores various aspects of life's journey. Some pieces explore maps which take us from one place to another, others explore those more subtle journeys which transport our lives from one place to another. The starting point for the exhibition is the mundane map, but the realisation that the mundane can be beautiful opens up a whole world of interesting ideas.
Helen is a textile artist who uses the expressiveness of threads and the variety of fabric to convey a theme, idea or story. The 'stories' incorporated into her pieces are sometimes obvious, but there is usually something hidden and less obvious to intrigue the imagination of the viewer.
